Differences between Man and Other Primates

Although man is a primate, there are major differences man have that made man a unique being from other primates. These includes though not limited:

1. Humans have a skeleton adapted for bipedal walking. No other animal that has ever lived on the Earth stands and walks like we do.
2. Humans are mostly hairless but, weirdly, we have more head hair, beards, and pubic area than other primates. Many older men become partially bald.
3. Humans are the only primate that relies heavily on endocrine glands for sweating.
4. Humans cannot grasp anything with their feet other primates can grasp comfortably.
5. Human hands are better arranged for grasping and fine manipulation of objects. Our finger bones are straight, not curved.
6. The human shoulder is better designed for throwing while the shoulders of other primates are limited to this feature of throwing.
7. Humans lack a snout giving us a flat face and the face have facial features arrange in a frontal plane unlike other primates which facial features are arrange on a sides plane
8. Humans have small canine teeth while the canine of other primates are more developed for chewing and tearing of flesh.

Differences between Man and Other Primates

1. Other primates less calories compared to humans which their digestive system is developed for more calories which they derived from cooked food to support their large brains.
2. Humans have menopause other primates give birth throughout their entire life.
3. Humans can’t tell when a female is fertile (concealed ovulation) other primates have well known and seen ovulation process.
4. Human males lack a baculum (penis bone) whereas most primate males have one.
5. Humans have sex throughout the menstrual cycle while other primates do not.
6. Human females have large breasts even when not pregnant or lactating while other primates do not.
7. We have a social structure which combines complex societies with mostly monogamous mating. Monogamous primates are common but they generally live in small family groups, not in the kinds of societies we have.
8. Humans have really big brains, proportionately larger than any other species.
9. Humans cannot survive without tools other primates do not need sophisticated tools to survive.
10. Humans have a tongue and larynx adapted for speech and most importantly of all, humans have grammatical language.

Differences between Man and Other Primates

1. Humans have white sclera while other primates have dark sclera.
2. Humans have 46 chromosomes while other primates have 48 chromosomes.
3. The skull of the humans sit on top of the spinal column while in other primates it is not so.
4. Birth of young humans are immature are require extensive care with ramification for relatively long term pairs bonding between parents.
